Event Notes
Since 2006 Browncoats from around the world have raised over $600,000.00 for Equality Now. Equality Now was founded in 1992 to work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world. Working with national human rights organizations and individual activists, Equality Now documents violence and discrimination against women and mobilizes international action to support their efforts to stop these human rights abuses.
Each year from June to September local Browncoats have risen to the challenge by arranging screenings of Joss Whedon’s 2005 Movie “Serenity” to support the his favorite charity continue to do great works. This ground breaking film, humorously referred to a space western, but in fact a very shiny story that stimulates the senses.
This year we are pleased to announce that we are joining this noble cause, and we invite you to come watch both Serenity and the fan film Browncoat:Redemption, as well bid on items and maybe win some door prizes.
